Milton 's Story

Milton is estimated to be 8 years of age, or maybe slightly younger. He was a transfer from a county shelter after he was found as a stray, dragging his back legs due to IVDD. He is already walking again! We are doing laser and electroacupuncture to help his back be less sore. This boy is a total character and likes to have canine friends around. He literally loves every dog he meets. He will play with younger dogs and cuddle with others.

He is used to sleeping in a crate at night and does well. He would love a home where people either work from home, or are retired. He was a little overweight upon arrival, but is slowly but surely losing weight with portion control.

We will continue to work on healing his back, and then he will be ready for adoption in mid-May after his extensive dental and neuter. He never lost bladder or bowel control and will hold it until he is taken out, which makes him a highly adoptable pup.

To be considered for Milton, please apply on our website:

https://www.portlanddachshundrescue.org/adoptionform

Portland Dachshund Rescue, Inc.'s Adoption Policy
OUR CRITERIA There's nothing better than a successful match. We like to explain the process of finding the right rescue dog as being similar to online dating: You will want to check our site often to see who is new, read each bio and reach out if you think they might have found someone special. Our adoption team is highly skilled at helping you find a dog with the right personality that will fit your family and lifestyle. Occasionally, we receive multiple promising applications for a dog and ultimately match the dog with the home where we think they will do best. We are committed to helping you find a dog even if you don't "match" on your first attempt. We would love nothing more than to help you find the forever dog of your dreams. Although we like to tailor each match, we do have some basic criteria we look with respect to adoptive homes: *Homes should be non-smoking *Have a securely fenced yard *Ability to commit to yearly dentals and shots for the pet *Willingness to purchase ramps and pet stairs to safeguard the dog's back
