Milo's Story

Meet Milo—available for adoption or foster to adopt! 🐾

Milo is a 1.5-year-old Australian Shepherd, about 45 lbs, with a stunning tan-and-white coat and a naturally short nub tail. He is an affectionate, people-oriented dog who is ready to find a home where he can continue to learn and thrive!

Milo was rescued from a neglectful situation by a kind person to help him find a new home. He is now healthy, neutered, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative, and continuing to gain weight appropriately.

Milo is a social and loving dog who enjoys meeting new people. He readily seeks out attention and is happy to accept pets and belly rubs, even from someone he has just met. He forms strong bonds with his people and enjoys being part of the action while also settling nicely when things are calm.

He is a smart and eager learner who is highly food-motivated. Milo already knows several commands, including sit, down (in progress), shake, kennel, recall, and “walk with me.” He has also been introduced to beginner agility and shows strong interest and engagement. He will do best in a home that continues his training and provides regular mental stimulation.

Milo has done well meeting other dogs. In a yard setting, he may bark when another dog approaches the fence, which appears to be a response to the barrier. When introduced appropriately outside of that setting, he shows a loose, wiggly body and has enjoyed walking alongside another dog! On neighborhood walks, he remains neutral to passing people and activity. He previously lived on a farm with other dogs, cats, and livestock and has shown low prey drive.

In the home, Milo is house trained and kennel trained. He has not shown destructive behaviors. He enjoys going for walks and rides well in the car. Milo is still a young dog and can be jumpy or mouthy when excited. Because of this, a home with older or dog-savvy children would be the best fit.

Milo is a medium-energy dog with a nice off-switch who will thrive in a home that can provide structure, continued training, and appropriate outlets for both his physical and mental energy. A home familiar with herding breeds, or committed to learning about their needs, would be ideal.

Milo is a bright, affectionate dog with a lot of potential and will make a wonderful companion in the right home. He’s currently located in Johnson City, TN and can be adopted within 60 miles of there or anywhere in ARMA’s traditional operating area. He may be able to be transported to a foster to adopt home.
