Meet Millie (CP)

Millie is a very affectionate and loyal dog who enjoys scratches behind the ear and under her chin. She, and her sister Penny, has spent her 3 years as an outside dog with room to roam within the confines of an invisible fence which she has never tried to break out of. She enjoys a good walk but will pull on the leash when distracted. She has not been successfully off leash trained by her owner. She does better with her trainer Stacey. She has been trained with a shock collar. Most often only on the sound or vibrate settings, rarely on an actual shock. She uses touch as her way of getting your attention in the way of a slight scratch. The scratching becomes fairly intense when she is anxious or does not receive your attention. She enjoys close attention but when comfortable can be aloof and on her own. She is protective and is wary of strangers. She and her sister Penny are protective and jealous of each other when around their main person, Mary. Millie is apprehensive around strangers and those she is not comfortable with and children. She has been aggressive with delivery people. She needs to be handled with caution when introducing to new people, especially children. She is not fond of being in your lap but does enjoy being right next to you. She loves chasing after balls, but is not the best at bringing them back directly to you. She loves to run the length of her property and take an occasional dip in the pond. She is not an active swimmer but enjoys getting in the water. She is not a heavy barker unless she senses something out of the ordinary or a wild animal. She and Penny chase squirrels up trees. Penny loves to just stay and watch and wait for the squirrel to jump or run down the tree. Millie will sometimes get bored with watching and begin to dig. When told she stops immediately but can produce many holes if left unattended. Millie and her sister Penny have been together since birth. They have been very good together for the most part, but have experienced Littermate Syndrome and have had episodes of fighting. When they are in a really good place together, they love playing chase and tug of war. Due to their limited episodes of fighting, it has been decided they would live better more satisfied lives apart. We are not sure how Millie would do with other dogs. She has played with her cousin German Shorthaired Pointer, Benny. Caution in introducing her to new animals is suggested. Millie is very comfortable in her crate where she prefers to sleep. She has spent most of her nights in her crate in the garage. If she is ever in trouble or truly apprehensive, her crate is a comfortable place to retreat to. Millie has never spent time indoors but she is very trainable and with loving and patient instruction, we feel very confident she could become a well behaved indoor pet but she is very comfortable being outdoors. Given plenty of outdoor activity and especially the ability to run at free will, when safe to do so, she could settle into indoor life with ease. Millie could be a very loyal and affectionate companion for anyone who is willing to be patient and kind and disciplined with her. She is ready for lots of unconditional love and disciplined guidance.
