Millie's Story

Please read entire bio before applying...

Meet Millie! A 1-year-old, blonde, 6-pound Yorkie mix with special needs and a heart full of love!
Millie is the sweetest little girl you will ever meet, and her absolute favorite activity is snuggling. If you’re looking for a tiny best friend who would love nothing more than to curl up in your lap and soak up all the love you have to give,Millie might just be your perfect match!
Millie does have special medical needs that her future family must be prepared to manage. She has an open fontanelle and neurological issues that affect her coordination but these challenges don’t stop her from living her best life! Due to her neurological condition, Millie does not have a blink reflex in her left eye, which affects her vision. For her safety and well-being, we are recommending a home without young children.
Millie also has irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), which means she will need to remain on a special diet for the rest of her life. Millie did come to us pad trained. In addition, she struggles with acid reflux and regurgitation that could require lifelong medications. Her special food and medications are expected to cost approximately $250 per month, so her future family must be financially prepared to meet her ongoing needs and provide consistent veterinary care.
Millie will also require regular grooming to keep her coat healthy and well-maintained,so her future family should be prepared for this ongoing commitment.
The ideal home for Millie would be a calm, loving environment where she can feel safe and comfortable. She could do well with another well-behaved small dog or even kitty friends. However, a meet-and-greet will be required with any potential furry siblings to ensure everyone is a good match. Millie has been in foster care since June, so all meet-and-greets must be scheduled by appointment.
Most of all, Millie needs a family who understands that being a special-needs pup doesn’t make her any less deserving of a wonderful life. Despite everything she has going on, Millie has so much life to live and so much love to give! She isn’t asking for much — just a family to call her own, a little extra patience and care, and a nice, warm lap to snuggle up on. Millie may need a little extra help along the way, but the love she’ll give in return will be immeasurable! Could you be the special person who sees beyond her medical needs and gives this precious little girl the safe, happy, and love-filled life she deserves? If you have room in your heart and on your couch for Millie, she’s waiting to meet you!
Please fill out our online application, https://www.lakeshorehumanesociety.org/online-adoption-form.
