Miku's Story

Miku - I Didn’t Always Know What Love Felt Like...
Miku here New to family life! I came from Riverside County Animal Shelter as a stray, but if I’m being honest, it feels like I didn’t really have a life before this. The humans here think I was used just for breeding and kept in a crate, and that makes sense because everything about the world feels so new to me. I’m still growing my fur back around my face and wrinkles, and it’s slowly coming in with the help of medicated baths, good food, and my monthly Simparica Trio. I am a bulldog not sure what you are expecting, amazon subscription wrinkle wipes and paste- add to cart! Other than that, I’m a healthy girl who’s just learning what it feels like to finally be cared for.
“Velcro, But Make It Emotional”
I don’t just like my people... I attach to them. Deeply. If you move, I move. If you sit, I sit right next to you—or on you. I’ve never really had human affection before, so now that I know what it feels like, I don’t want to let it go. Sometimes I hold onto my human a little too tightly and forget how to share, but I’m learning that love doesn’t disappear just because it’s shared. Everything I do comes from a place of wanting to feel safe, close, and secure.
“Puppy Brain, No Manual Included”
I’m only 10 months old and I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing yet. I didn’t get the chance to learn manners or how to “be a dog,” so I’m figuring it all out in real time. I have a lot of energy, I get excited, and sometimes I don’t read other dogs very well. I like them and I want to play, but I can take things a little too far if I’m not guided. The good news is I’m very responsive and easy to redirect—I just need someone to keep showing me the right way.
“Soft Girl Energy Only”
Even with all my learning, I am such a gentle and sweet girl. I take treats softly, I approach people with a mix of shyness and excitement, and sometimes I still cower when someone reaches for me too quickly. I’m not aggressive—I just don’t always understand everything yet. Once I feel safe, my whole personality opens up into this warm, happy, affectionate energy that makes people instantly feel at ease.
“My Kind of Life”
I love a calm environment where I can just be close to my person. My favorite place is right next to you on the couch or under your feet while you’re doing anything at all. I enjoy short bursts of playtime, but I tire out quickly and then I’m ready to nap like it’s my full-time job. Walks are best in the early morning or evening because I’m not built for the heat, and baths... well, I’m still working through that. Water isn’t really my thing, but with patience and consistency, I’m getting better.
“What I Need From You”
I’m going to need a patient, understanding home that will continue to guide me as I learn everything I missed out on. I do best in a calm space where I feel safe and loved, and where someone is willing to give me structure and reassurance. I can live with other dogs, but I’ll need help learning boundaries and sharing attention. Because I’m still clumsy and learning my manners, a home with older kids (10 +) would be best for me. Cats are cool, I just really do not care if they are there or they aren’t there.
“The Truth About Me”
I am what happens when a dog finally gets a chance at life. I’m learning, I’m healing, and I’m discovering joy for the very first time. I might not come perfect, but I come with a heart that is ready to give everything to someone who shows me love. And once I choose you, I won’t let you go.
Miku is vaccinated, spay and microchipped and her adoption donation fee is $1100.00. She is being fostered in Mesa, AZ and you can apply for her on our website at freedomfrenchierescue.org
