Mikayla's Story

Oh, Mikayla, how we love you!

Mikayla is quite possibly the sweetest dog ever! She is a petite 33 lbs and not likely to grow much bigger. She's between 6 months and 1 year old, and she was found as a stray in Fort Worth, Texas. Happy Furever Rescue saved her from a shelter that sadly is forced to euthanize regularly to make space for new dogs coming in.

She looks like a cross between a heeler, the Target mascot, and Spuds MacKenzie (google it if you're too young to remember him). The Target dog and Spuds were Bull Terriers with the bowed faces, which thankfully Mikayla does not have - she's much prettier - but she has great resemblance to their markings, ears, and facial expressions.

Mikayla is a sweet, gentle, and quiet dog with a super soft coat that you just can't stop petting. She eats up the attention and will look to you for reassurances. She's a tiny bit timid, but not scared... perhaps insecure is a better way to put it. She is very trusting, and a perfect example is of her personality was her freedom ride from the shelter - she was a little nervous, but when we petted her and talked to her, she relaxed and felt right at home.

She is coming out of her shell and enjoys the company of people and other dogs. We're certain she would be great with kids, and we're unsure about cats, but she's so gentle that we'd be shocked if she didn't love cats too.

She's super smart and learning every day, and she wants nothing more than to curl up on the sofa after some light play or a walk outside. Cuddling is her specialty, so if you're looking for a quiet and gentle companion, then this is your dog.
