Michonne's Story

**Meet Michonne: A Sweet Survivor in Need of a Loving Home** Michonne is everyone friendly and loves little dogs.

Michonne is a bully mix weighing over 50 pounds. Michonne's trust is easily gained, she loves to be loved, almost puppy-like, blissful, raw joy. Michoone enjoys walks and trails, car rides, and her eagerness to please makes her the best pup ever. Michonne enjoys the put door activities and the peaceful, calm indoors. Michonne has gone fishing, boating, rafting ( this she enjoyed), ttrailwalks and travelling across country with anyone willing to love her. Michonne makes the absolute best chill buddy. Napping, playing, or binge-watching your favourite TV series, she makes the best cuddle bug. Much once with a proper introduction is great with dogs and cats. Michonne has waited her whole life to be loved and belong. That sense of these are my forever people has never been felt. Michonne has not once had anyone interested in her. Maybe this is why her heart was lost for so long.

For too long, she felt lost and abandoned, surviving on her own and building a wall of distrust against humans. Despite her tough exterior, Michonne is a gentle, beautiful soul with a puppy-like spirit. Unfortunately, she’s had to put up this protective front to survive.

In 2020, Michonne was spotted running stray on the east side of Indianapolis, evading people and traffic. She had been on her own for many months, terrified and in survival mode. The community initially named her Zelda, and after many sightings, a plan was put in place to humanely trap her. It took very little time and effort, plus a cheeseburger, for Michonne to surrender and show her love for us.

She arrived on January 18, 2020, and is now estimated to be around 6-8 years old. I believe she's closer to 6. Michonne gets along well with most dogs and trusts us with a bit of patience. She tends to gravitate toward confident, nurturing individuals. If you’re scared, she’ll be scared too.

Michonne needs a home that acknowledges her past trauma without dwelling on it. Instead, she requires positive guidance, comfort, love, and discipline. She enjoys car rides, loves food, and becomes a big cuddler once she feels safe and trusts you. Michonne thrives on affirmations, nurturing, and acceptance. Her confidence reflects that of her humans—if you’re confident, she’ll be confident. All Michonne wants is to feel safe and loved.

**All Adoptions Include:**
- Spayed/Neutered
- Rabies Vaccination (1 or 3 years)
- All Age-Appropriate Core Vaccinations (including Lepto & Corona, 1 or 3 years)
- Heartworm-tested (Negative)
- Monthly Heartworm, Flea, and Tick Prevention
- Lyme Disease Tested (Negative)
- Dewormed and faecal tested (Negative)
- All testing completed within 6-12 months
- All age-appropriate care (blood work, dental care, testing, and medications)
- Lifetime Microchip Registration with free unlimited updates
- Quality protein diet

**Adoption Processing:**
- The adoption application review can take up to 3 weeks.
- A minimum of two meet-and-greets is required before adoption.
- A home check must occur.
- Out-of-state adopters are welcome at their expense.
- We do NOT ship any adoptable pets.
- Adoption fees are due at the time of adoption.
- No exchanges or requests for money are required before adoption.
- No payment plans available.

**For AHRS Former Adopters:**
- No adoption fee is required; a donation of your choice is expected, encouraged, welcome, and appreciated.

Training is an ongoing process and must be addressed daily. New issues and opportunities arise frequently that need attention and rewards. Continued training is a priority to set them up for success.

For more information on the adoption process and to complete an application, please visit our website at AdoptAHRescue.org or email us at rescueah@yahoo.com.

Michonne is looking for her forever home!

Update 9/11/25
Tax-deductible minimum adoption donation fee of $255.
