Meet Mia! She’s a 2-year old, 50-pound, special needs Plott Hound mix female located in Concord, MA.

Mia’s fosters describe her as: “The best snuggler and kiss-giver! She is goofy and so affectionate!”
They even made her an Instagram account! @miagreatdogrescue

On 3/10/2021, Mia received an MRI at her neurologist and was officially diagnosed with epilepsy. Her brain development is within normal ranges, no tumors and no structural concerns. This means Mia can live a long and happy life!! She also received a spinal tap and that was negative. Yeah!

Mia is looking for a very special family! Mia is an active girl who loves to run and play fetch. A fenced yard is a plus! She needs a quiet neighborhood to walk in with minimal dog traffic and has been working on leash walking! Her new harness has helped a lot! Mia cannot be with other dogs. She does not play well with them and has leash reactivity. She is muzzle trained for walks and enjoys it! She also should not live with cats. She rides well in the car. She loves to bark to say hello! She gets so excited her entire butt wiggles!!! She is a lover and enjoys giving everyone kisses!
She is great with little human kids - very patient and affectionate with little ones and happy to run and play with bigger kids. She is housebroken and does not need her crate at all. She knows ‘sit’ & ‘wait’ and that ‘go nunnites’ means to go to her dog bed in the bedroom to go to bed for the night. She will bark for a moment at guests when they come over but she stops once they can meet. People really love her. Mia is also working on her loose leash walking with a trainer and her fosters!

Mia is epileptic and is on a few daily medications. She is so good at taking her medications with peanut butter! When Mia has a seizure, she does not feel any pain and does not remember the episode. She has an emergency med for the 24 hours after she has a seizure. She recently started a new medication that has helped decrease her seizures. She will need to see a vet every 6 months to take blood to make sure her blood levels are okay on her current meds. She already has a vet neurologist and will continue care with this vet after adoption. To offset the cost, you will receive assistance for approx 7 mos. That funding is set aside especially for medication.

Mia is going to require a patient owner who can deal with managing her energy and her epilepsy - but anyone who takes this on is going to feel the rewards of her love and affection for years to come! (She is up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered. We recommend all newly adopted dogs be professionally trained with their new owners to become the best family member they can be.)
