Mia's Story

Mia’s journey started in a high-kill shelter in Texas, where she actually gave birth to her puppies. Thankfully, we were able to scoop her up and bring her safely here to Virginia! Because she just finished nursing, her spay surgery will be in November to give her body time to fully recover. The surgery is completely covered by her adoption fee, but her adopter will just need to handle driving her to and from one of our approved rescue vets.

Mia is around 3 to 4 years old, weighs a petite 12 lbs, and is incredibly chill for a Chihuahua. She is outgoing, a fantastic listener, and even lets her foster mom trim her nails without a single fuss. She is also good with dogs of all sizes. She is great with dog savvy cats who are confident. She can be a little possessive of her things, so would do best with older children. She is smart and very food motivated. She knows how to sit, shake, and is house trained. She is a low maintenance girl who likes toys, but mostly is calm.

She also likes to play the "fun police" when other dogs get too rough, stepping in to tell them to settle down. But the second her foster mom tells her to stop, she listens immediately.Mia loves to cuddle and is so ready for a family of her own!

If you are interested in adopting there is an application below! There are higher fees associated as we have to pay to have the animals transported. We are a non-profit rescue. Any access revenue made is used to care for animals with additional medical expenditures that would otherwise result in adoptable dogs having to be left behind and euthanized.

The adoption fee for this dog is $600 which helps with the cost of routine vet care. This fee DOES NOT INCLUDE spay/neuter. You will be required to sign a contract legally obligating you to have the animal altered. A $100.00 will be returned to the adopter once the animal has been sterilized. We will need proof of sterilization from the vet in order to receive the $100.

Paws Deep Animal Rescue's Adoption Policy
The first step to adoption, once you have identified a pet you would like to adopt, is to fill out an adoption application. You can speed up the adoption process by calling your vet ahead of time to give us permission to speak to them in regards to your current and past pets. You will be contacted to schedule an interview and a meet and greet after the adoption contract is approved.. We will need proof of age with a form of ID. Once we have gotten approval that you are allowed to have pets where you live, your adoption application is approved, the pet is altered, and adoption payment is received, only then will the animal be released. Some pets may be able to go home the day after adoption contract is approved others it could be a week. If the animal is deemed too young to be altered we will have the adopter sign a spay and neuter contract. The animal will need to be neutered when it is 6 months old and we will need proof provided to us by a licensed veterinarian. Once there is proof provided, the rescue will reimburse $100 of the adoption fee. If there is more than one qualifying approved applicant that is a match then the applicant who first inquired will get the opportunity to meet the pet and decide if they want to adopt before it goes to the next person in line. Note: Some animals will require home inspections or a fenced yard. Applying for a dog does not mean automatic approval. We reserve the right to deny applications. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1_j7Qyk269a7uzMcOh1Ffx3PU9femw7Xd3t-Nj8TOfBE/edit Follow us on TikTok: @pawsdeepanimalrescue
