Named for her amazing foster Mom’s favorite, beloved Disney character, Jasmine is a beautiful 2.5 to 3 year old girl rescued from an Ohio puppy mill where she was being used to breed Doodle puppies for the commercial pet trade. Thanks to our wonderful friends & rescue colleagues at Heart of Michigan Bernese Mountain Dog Rescue, this beautiful, well-mannered but shy & somewhat scared girl was saved from a life of pain & misery & given a chance for a happy, care-free life as the beloved companion of her soon to be chosen, forever family. Currently underweight at 56 lbs., Jasmine is on her way to a healthy weight of 65-70 lbs thanks to the exceptional care she is being given by her devoted foster mom who is gleefully surprised everyday by Jasmine’s progress, her resilience & capacity for love in spite of her past. As rescuers, we know all too well that mill dogs come with their own set of special challenges because of the neglect they have suffered & endured which makes Princess Jasmine’s surprisingly rapid transition from mill pup to normal happy healthy dog an inspiration to us all!

Her beloved foster mom reports:

"As a foster, Jasmine continues to surprise me with each passing day. Needless to say, we really didn’t know what to expect hearing where & what she came from but were prepared for anything & happily surprised when she hit most of her milestones so quickly. She has made many strides over the last 3 weeks she has been with us. She arrived filthy, matted & unsocialized to humans, but we shaved her down, cleaned her up, vetted her, spayed her all while we were getting to know her & she us. She picked up house training almost immediately thanks to my pack & has surprisingly, turned out to be a delightful girl! She likes other dogs which is not surprising seeing as she only had other dogs for company at the puppy mill & my boys made her feel right at home. Initially shy with them, she has now taken to contently coexisting with the crew. She won't go out her way to interact or initiate play with them but follows them outdoors and whatever they are doing, she will follow. She discovered balls & toys but plays with on her own. That may change with time. For now, she"s just happy to follow along & have company.

I will say I’m the one she has grown most attached to in this house. She follows me everywhere & never goes too far but having at least one other canine companion is really important to her & for her. She will absolutely need at least one another well-mannered, easy going dog for companionship as well as a person or family that are around most of the day. Jasmine seems to not be fond of loud, sudden or constant noise. That & any constant activity seems to cause her stress, So she will need a calm, ADULT ONLY home as the constant comings & goings of children would tend to make her nervous. She may be fine with more quiet, calm teenagers. We’ve really grown to love Princess Jasmine and only want the very best for her. A fenced in yard is an absolute MUST!"

Jasmine will need a patient, calm, quiet doodle savvy ADULT ONLY home with another dog/s, a fenced yard is a MUST as she is something of a flight risk because of her origins. She is a shy girl who warms up with time & patience, kindness & unconditional love.

You must be prepared for your dog to be an inside member of your family. In most cases, a PHYSICAL FENCE IS REQUIRED in order to be considered for a DRC rescue doodle. DRC Adoption donations typically range from: $300 - $750 and vary according to the age, health, temperament and location of each dog. Every doodle is an individual and every doodle has his/her own specific needs and requirements. Adopters are selected based on compatibility, NOT on a "first come, first serve basis. At no time does DRC ever put the desires of applicants before or above the needs and requirements of rescue doodles in our program.
