He and his brother Ronaldo were the most timid of the bunch and did not adjust to living in the shelter. Luckily they were soon transported to Buffalo where they moved in to a home with a couple much more confident dogs. Messi still looks to his brother Ronaldo when he's unsure, but his foster family is spending time with each puppy individually to build up confidence. <br/>At first Messi, was very apprehensive about crossing thresholds (doorways). With time and treats, Messi is coming inside and going outside. After only a few days he is following his foster people around, crossing thresholds, and going into his crate (with some bribing). He does fine in his crate, I suspect he finds comfort knowing his brother is in the crate next to him. <br/>Messi trusts other dogs more quickly than people. If he is adopted to a home with another dog, Messi will likely look up to them for guidance and follow them around (good news if you have a well trained dog- monkey see, monkey do). He's very gentle, especially in the way he asks for people attention. In a calm home, he will come out of his shell quickly. Messi has spent time with little kids. At first he was apprehensive but he will come around if the tiny humans aren't chasing him. Since the weather has been so nice, the puppies have spent a lot of time outside. The very first day in Buffalo they both had accidents in their crates, but none since then, and no accidents in the house.
