Melina's Story
Melina is topping the charts with her sadness.
And with how long her nails were. It took her longer than most to adjust to shelter life and we still are trying to convince her daily she is worthy of love. Melina is nervous and will cower in corners if we let her. She will also rest her head in our hands when we tell her how wonderful she is. Melina is a gentle girl looking for people that care deeply and give her time to feel comfortable.

Chicago Animal Care and Control is located at 2741 S. Western Ave., Chicago, IL, and is open from 12pm to 7pm daily. Walk-in visitors are welcome and helped on a first-come, first-served basis. If you are planning to adopt the day you visit, please plan to arrive before 5:30pm. Visitors arriving after 5:30pm will still be able to view animals in Pavilions A-B-C until 7pm.

All dogs will be spayed/neutered and vaccinated before adoption.

All household members should be present to meet dogs (especially those under 18 and any decision-makers).

We recommend, and can arrange, dog-to-dog meet and greets for your current dog(s) to meet a potential dog sibling at the shelter. You will need to show proof of up-to-date rabies vaccination for your dog(s). Slow, cautious, and appropriate introductions are recommended after you allow time for decompression for the shelter dog.

If you have any questions, please email caccpetfinder@gmail.com
