BIO:
Greetings from your friend Mel. About a year ago, I was just another frightened, heartworm-positive stray dog living in an overcrowded shelter in the south and time-stamped for euthanasia. Thankfully, FTF rescued me and placed me with a wonderful foster family who dedicated themselves to helping me recover physically and emotionally. Today I’m a healthy, happy, and very friendly pooch. I’d hoped to find I my forever home by now, and while that makes me sad, my time in foster care has made me an even better dog. So let me reintroduce myself!

The first thing everyone notices about me is how handsome I am, yet my sunny personality outshines my good looks. My foster mom says I’m the perfect balance of playful energy and chill, relaxing vibes. I adore being outdoors, especially going on long walks. I’m good on the leash and always thrilled to see my human friends—big and small—and make new ones. As the expression goes, I’ve never met a stranger. I also enjoy exploring the backyard and going on car trips (I can ride shotgun or be the backseat navigator, your call). Inside, my favorite activity is cuddling and schmoozing. Honestly, I could do that all day! But when you’re occupied with other things, I’ll entertain myself by following you around or playing with a toy before dozing off.

A few other things to tell you. I’ve learned several basic obedience skills, such as come, sit, stay, down, off, and to gently take my treat rewards. It would be great if you’d continue my training by signing us up for dog school. I’d really like to learn more new things, and I think we’d have a great time sharing that experience. I’m 100% reliable when it comes to doing my business outdoors and actually enjoy spending time in my crate, so no worries when you have to leave me behind. Finally, I need slow introductions when meeting new canines and do best with dogs who have good manners and can tolerate my shenanigans (I can get a little over-excited).

*Be at least 21 years of age
*Live in a 50-mile radius of Itasca, within the Illinois border
*Have the knowledge and agreement of all adults living in the household
*Have approval from owner of residence (written in lease)
*Have a valid ID with current address (please provide proof of address if ID address is not up-to-date)
*Be approved as a suitable adoptive home by Fetching Tails Foundation
*Be prepared to make a lifetime commitment
