Megan's Story

Megan is a sweet, friendly girl who absolutely loves attention and being around her people. She isn't a fan of kennel time and may let you know with a little whining, but she does settle in a crate. Megan has done well with older children, though her behavior around younger kids is still unknown. She would do best as the only dog in the home, as she tends to resource guard her food and favorite people from other dogs. Her compatibility with cats is currently unknown. Megan is very strong on a leash and will happily try to drag you in the direction she wants to go, so she'll benefit from someone comfortable handling a strong dog and continuing her leash training. She responds much better to commands when treats are involved and does well riding in the car. Megan would thrive in a home where she can get plenty of love, companionship, and guidance!<br/>Megan is spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped, and dewormed. She is heartworm negative and on prevention.

Erath County Humane Society's Adoption Policy
When someone comes in wanting to adopt, we first ask what they are looking for in a new pet. If they can describe what they are looking for, we will make some suggestions based on that criteria, and then let them go through the shelter looking at the adoptable animals. There are kennel cards on each kennel with information specific to that animal. Once they find an animal they are interested in we do a meet and greet with the person interested in adopting. If they have other pets, we recommend a meet and greet with current pets as well. Whatever animal the potential adopter chooses, we highly suggest a 5 day foster period to make sure the animal and the adopter are a good fit.
