The pathology report identified the tumor as a complex mammary carcinoma, grade II, which is a malignant mammary tumor. The tumor was removed with narrowly clear margins, meaning cancer cells were not seen at the edges of the tissue that was removed; however, the margins were very close — less than 1 mm.<br/><br/>The report also noted that vascular invasion was not present, which is a more favorable finding. Grade II mammary tumors are considered intermediate grade, and the pathology report notes that prognosis depends on several factors, including tumor type, size, grade, margins, lymph node involvement, and whether there has been any spread.<br/><br/>At this time, Meg is comfortable and doing well, and the rescue is not pursuing additional testing, staging, imaging, or treatment. Because this was a malignant tumor, there is a possibility of recurrence or spread in the future. Megs adopter should be prepared to monitor her closely and continue routine veterinary care.<br/><br/>We are happy to provide the full pathology report to any serious potential adopter so they can review it with their own veterinarian before making an adoption decision.<br/><br/><br/>ADOPTION FEE: $250<br/><br/>To adopt the FIRST STEP is to complete an APPLICATION at fluffydog.net<br/><br/>Adopters must be 24 years of age.
