Meatball's Story

Meatball showed up on someone's carport in Bossier City. He got comfortable underneath an RV and refused to budge for a while. The owners and a neighbor put out a call for help; everyone was worried that if he wandered onto one specific property, he might be in danger of being shot. He allowed the neighbor and then Tyrrell to walk him on a leash, and he came to The Mutt House. Unfortunately, Meatball has not been able to meet many potential adopters, because he takes more time to trust people than other dogs. In part because of this obstacle, Meatball has become the mascot of The Mutt House -- we have special places in our hearts for the ones who have extra barriers to adoption. For the first few days that he was at The Mutt House, he did not even want Tyrrell to pet him. Now that he knows her well, however, he is nothing but a big, squishy loverboy! He has made other, non-Tyrrell friends as well, but it does take him a little while, so he needs extra patience and compassion. Meatball was HW+, but he has undergone the fast-kill treatment at South Shreveport Animal Hospital, and we are looking forward to the day we can get him re-tested and show that it is negative! Adoption fees are waived with a positive vet reference.
