Mazie's Story
Mazie - Anatolian/Australian shepherd mix

Mazie is a girl we’ve had in the works for a bit behind the scenes. She originally came in as a stray and spent time in a foster home with a fellow rescue partner. When a couple of dogs were unexpectedly dumped at a vet clinic and needed immediate placement, some teamwork (and a little creative “wiggling”) helped make space for them—and Mazie made her way into our program. Sometimes rescue really is a team effort, and we love when it works out like this.

Mazie gives off strong “I’d like to be outside, please” vibes. She truly enjoys yard time and is perfectly content soaking up fresh air. Based on her personality and appearance, we suspect she may be an Anatolian Shepherd mix, which would make a lot of sense for a dog who prefers outdoor living alongside her people.
In her foster home with us, she actually prefers her crate to stay in the air-conditioned garage rather than moving inside the house, which tells us she likely spent much of her early life outdoors. She’s a wonderful house guest. She just finds comfort in outdoor spaces.

She is timid at first but warms up with a little time and kindness. Mazie is currently living with young kids, other dogs, and even fluffy feline friends, and she approves of them all 🐶🐱

Her ideal home would be with a family that enjoys spending time outside and wants a loyal companion by their side for yard time, porch sitting, or outdoor adventures. She wants to be part of the family, she just prefers that family life include plenty of fresh air.

Mazie is approximately 2 years old, fully vetted, heartworm negative, and current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention.
Think that sounds like your kind of companion?

Apply to adopt:
https://rubiesandrogues.com/pages/placement-application

Adoption fee $300 (includes vetting through our program) see here for specifics: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/16xaqyrjYF/
