Mazie's Story

Mazie Anatolian Shepherd/Australian Shepherd Mix

Mazie is a girl we've had in the works for a bit behind the scenes. She originally came in as a stray and spent time in a foster home with a fellow rescue partner. When a couple of dogs were unexpectedly dumped at a vet clinic and needed immediate placement, some teamwork (and a little creative wiggling) helped make space for themand Mazie made her way into our program. Sometimes rescue really is a team effort, and we love when it works out like this.

When Mazie first arrived, she gave off strong "I'd like to be outside, please" vibes. She loved yard time and seemed most comfortable soaking up fresh air. Based on her personality and appearance, we suspect she may be an Anatolian Shepherd mix, which would certainly explain her appreciation for the outdoors.

But Mazie has discovered something wonderful since coming into foster care: creature comforts.

These days, she's fully embraced the spoiled dog lifestyle. She loves the air conditioning, enjoys curling up on the dog bed in her foster family's bedroom, and has become quite fond of being spoiled rotten. While she still enjoys time outside, she's learned that indoor life has some pretty great perks too.

Mazie is the definition of a turn-key family dog. She is wonderful indoors, great with other dogs, respectful of cats, and has been fantastic with the young children in her foster home. Her foster family genuinely has no complaintsshe's just an easy, pleasant dog to live with.

She can be a little timid when meeting new people, but with a bit of patience and kindness, she warms up beautifully and becomes a loyal companion.

One of our favorite Mazie stories happened when her foster dad found a kitten trapped inside the wheel well of a vehicle. Mazie noticed something wasn't right and repeatedly brought her foster family over to investigate. Thanks to her persistence, they discovered a tiny kitten hiding in the wheeland the kitten was rescued completely unharmed. Good girl, Mazie.

Mazie weighs just under 50 pounds and is fully grown. While she may get a little bigger if she's given one too many treats (and she'd certainly support that plan), you won't be bringing home a giant dog. She's a wonderful medium-large size that's big enough for adventures but easy to live with day to day.

Mazie is approximately 2 years old, fully vetted, heartworm negative, and current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.

If you're looking for a sweet, easygoing companion who gets along with everyone and is happy to join you for both outdoor adventures and couch time afterward, Mazie may be your perfect match.

Apply to adopt:
https://rubiesandrogues.com/pages/placement-application

Adoption fee $300 (includes vetting through our program) see here for specifics: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/16xaqyrjYF/
