Meet Max - Spunky little terrier

**IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ - Due to the nature of our adoption process, this foster is only able to consider forever families within 20 miles from zip code 75082. A vet reference and trial adoption will be done before the adoption is finalized. Thank you for your understanding.

Maxwell is a spunky little 8-month-old 9lb terrier. He is incredibly playful and always so so happy. He craves attention and will do any tricks you want if he sees you are holding a squeaky ball in your hand. Within 30 minutes in his foster home, he learned to use the 35lb doggy door just by being determined to get the ball that was being thrown from one side of the doggy door to the other. Needless to say he is extremely driven, athletic and smart. But he is also sweet and will find any way he can to curl up on your lap to watch a movie, while you work or while you study. He gets along with every dog in the house, from the 3lb puppies to the 60lb GP, all of which he tries to play with. But he also knows how to read other dogs to determine if they are welcoming of his playfulness or not, so he tends to leave our 15-year-old dog alone and play with the dogs that show interest in playing back. That is a pretty amazing quality for a puppy. He is also potty-trained and consistently uses the doggy door in his foster home to go outside and do his business, rain or shine. He has been so good around the house that his foster parents trust him to leave him loose in the house while they are away at work all day, so he has not been crated for over 2 months. Maxwell has never shredded anything he isn’t supposed to; he mostly entertains himself by emptying the toy box and playing with everything in it all day long as well as by playing with the other dogs in the house. But perhaps what his foster parents were most appreciative of him was the fact that though he is tiny, he is not a yappy dog. He has a big dog bark but does not bark at all in the house, unless you take his ball away and tease him with it, then he will tell you that it is his ball and you need to give it back. As you can see, this tiny little fella has a huge personality and is adorable to watch. Now that we have gotten to know him, it is hard to believe his family gave him up to a kill shelter for not having the personality they were looking for when they got him when he was a newborn puppy. Apparently they expected to get a puppy that was not mouthy at all as it was going through its teething phase, as if such thing existed. So poor little Maxwell was taken to the shelter at 23 weeks of age simply for being a playful little pup with really sharp puppy teeth. There is not an ounce of aggression in him; he is just as nice, engaging, excited, loving and playful as a puppy can be. Luckily the shelter manager saw those qualities in him and reached out to our rescue group asking if we could take him to find him the right home that will appreciate him for all those quirks that make Max such a cool dog. If you think Maxwell might be the missing piece to your family, please fill out an application at furryfriendsanimalrescue.org and his foster parents can contact you to plan a meet and greet. It is not a commitment to adopt him, it is merely a means of introduction.

Anyone interested in our dogs must be over 21. We are only able to adopt to homes within a reasonable driving distance of the dog's foster home (zip 75082) and please be prepared for a home visit by one of our volunteers. We do not adopt on first-come-first-served basis, we want to make sure the dog is right for the family and vice versa based on what we know about the dog's personality, habits and behaviors. Our adoption fee for dogs is $175.

You can complete an online adoption application on our website http://www.furryfriendsanimalrescue.org- we will get back with you asap.
