MAXWELL's Story
Notes: MAXWELL IS about a year old. This timid, mellow boy was abandoned in a north Oak Cliff neighborhood. He's as sweet as can be, not the least bit aggressive, allows my alpha female her role as pack leader, house trained - not a single accident, and stays in his crate when I’m away at work. Maxwell is extremely gentle, weighs in at 52 lbs and the vet estimates his age at about 12-18 months. Maxwell is neutered and current on all vaccines.

UPDATE 1/17/07: Maxwell has really come out of his shell in the 2-1/2 weeks since he’s been here with me. He now weighs 60 lbs and looks great – he was a little thin to start with. He plays wonderfully with his foster siblings (a female basenji/sharpei mix, a male bullmastiff and a couple of cats), he loves to go for car rides, walks, chew giant rawhides (his favorite) and share snuggle room at my feet on the bed at night– a terrific foot warmer on these cold winter nights! He’s just a big love-bug puppy that still needs training though. He cries for awhile when I leave the house, he’ll jump up on you, counter-surf if you’re not watching, and steal the phone or remote and play keep-away (or eat it if you’re not watching!). But we’re working hard on learning sit and NO. He’s already learned to ring the bell I have at the back door when he needs to go outside. He’s still a little timid around people he doesn’t know, but once he gets to know you he’s all about love and fun. Just because of his size, he’d be best in a home with no small children.
