Max's Story
I'm Max, a 38-pound Bernese Mountain Dog mix with the sweetest heart-you just have to give me a little time to show it. New people and new places can be really overwhelming for me, and the shelter has been especially stressful. I take a while to build trust, so I'll need a family that understands I can't be rushed. Please let me come to you at my own pace and avoid reaching into my space until I've decided you're one of my safe people. With patience, reassurance, and lots of love, you'll get to watch my true personality shine. Once I know I can trust you, I turn into the biggest sweetheart you've ever met!

Peanut butter treats are definitely the way to my heart, and I absolutely melt for belly rubs and scratches behind my ears. If you stop petting me too soon, don't be surprised when I gently paw at you to ask for more! I also love giving kisses and can get wonderfully playful when you get me excited. I may do well with kids, but they will need to understand that slow introductions and respecting my boundaries are very important while I adjust. More than anything, I'm looking for a patient family willing to let me move at my own pace. If you can give me the time and reassurance I need, I'll reward you with endless love, loyalty, and a best friend who will cherish you forever.

My adoption fee of $225+tax covers the cost of my care and stay here at the humane society.

All Pennington County residents must also pay an additional $8 licensing fee at time of adoption.
