Meet Max

Max is back! After being left unwanted, several returns and a longgg list of triggers, Max decided to take things into his own paws and hire a professional trainer to help unpack his trauma. Max is ready to show off all the skills he has learned through training! Although it is important to remember that, just like all of us, Max is still a work in progress

Prior to Max working with a professional trainer & behavioralist, Max could not go on walks due to his reactivity, have visitors at the house, watch tv, or be around any novel or stimulating situation without having really BIG feelings.

Max's life was extremely limited, but after all the hard work he has put into becoming the BEST boy, with the right environment and appropriate known training, Max can thrive

Likes:
* Walks - in familiar, low stimulating environment
* Hanging out with his foster fur brothers
* Following foster mom everywhere!
* Cuddles lots of cuddles!
* Classical music (he sings beautifully!)
* Going through Dairy Queen & McDonald's drive thru for treats
* Cheese, cheese, & more cheese!!

Dislikes:
* People in his personal space before he gains trust
* Large trucks (trash service, bus's, etc)
* Words on the TV (Max is an old soul, he prefers quality time over electronics but he is really working on it & has come a long ways with the TV!)
* Can be dog reactive when on walks but has done great with all the dogs he has met when proper introductions are followed

Needs:
* Daily behavioral medication
* Proper introductions with ALL people
* Secured fenced in yard to safely get his energy out
* Continued training
* Quiet home, children 10+ older

Requirements for adoption:
* Reactivity/GSD breed experience
* Prepaid training package with his trusted trainer
* Continuation of working with behavioralist to fully understand Max's needs and behaviors

I understand that Max may not be your typical dog, but that is what makes him so special. Max is a warrior; he has used every setback thrown his way and turned it into his comeback. He is such an inspiration for all things Once Max trusts you, you will see that he is just as beautiful on the inside as he is on the outside. He is smart, brave, and the most loyal companion. The love this dog has in him for his person is unmatched.

Max is estimated to be around 3-4 years old. He is neutered, UTD on all vaccines, muzzle trained and knows all his basic commands. Max has been good so far with all the cats he has met. It is important to know that Max's transition to a new home will be a very slow process and will require his potential adopter to meet him several times.

A note from Max's trainer -
Max is an affectionate, and brilliant boy. He thrives with training and learns quickly. While he has had a rough start, he has learned how to navigate being a pet dog in a big world. His future adopter will need to provide stability for him through continued training, a calm/quiet home, and an understanding of his needs. He's made new human friends and lives with other large dogs with no issue. Using his known training, he walks well on leash and has experience walking around outlet malls, and quiet neighborhoods. He does well in a kennel and with being left alone. A training summary will be provided and acclimation to his new home will have full support from both his foster mom and his behavior consultant.
