Max's Story

Meet Max the small but happy little dog! This sweet little guy is about 1-2 years old and was surrendered by his owner to a shelter after they could no longer care for him. Max is the cuddliest little man weighing in right under 20 lbs. He loves his foster siblings and other animals, but his foster parents are his favorite thing ever. He has never been around cats but says the neighbor's outside cats are some weird looking dogs.

Max is a little timid around new people and situations but once he finds out you aren't going to eat him and have treats, his spastic goofy self comes into full bloom. He is an absolute nut when it comes to food and dances for joy when its time to eat. He loves soft blankets but also thinks that your snuggie looks pretty awesome too. Max is a bed hog but said that he can make a Queen size bed work or a Great Dane sized dog bed work.

Max is house trained but due to bad experiences before coming to us is not kenneled while his family is out and does a great job. He is not loud or a yapper but will let you know if you accidentally lock him out of the bathroom while you are in there.

He really doesn't understand why he doesn't have his furever family but wants you to give him a chance and maybe, just maybe you'll fall in love with him like we have.

We are not a shelter, we are a rescue and all of our rescued pets live with a Tennessee foster family until their forever home is found. They are all checked by a veterinarian, current on their vaccinations, spayed/neutered are micro-chipped. Our fosters know the animals best and will give you an honest assessment of their traits and training.

If you are interested in adopting a pet from Hero West please HeroHoundRescue.org/adopt to apply via the Hero West Application link or please email us at herowestrescue@gmail.com

As soon as we receive your application back, we will begin processing your application. If you are approved we will put you in contact with the foster so they can better answer any questions you may have.
