Max's Story

Max is a puppy available for adoption- located in Westchester County, New York. He is about 3-4 months old. He is currently about 25lbs, underweight, and still growing. His adult weight could easily be 60-70lbs. He could potentially be husky, aussie, or golden retriever. The person who relinquished him said he is a poodle mix (but who knows!) He does not look like he has ANY poodle traits. He was relinquished to the Amber's Angels Rescue on 11/08/2022. Max is a normal energetic puppy. However, he is a bit nervous at times and is coming out of his shell. We are helping him develop more self-confidence.

Max is vaccinated, has been started on flea/tick, and heartworm prevention. He is too young and too little to be neutered. It will be the owner's responsibility to get him neutered when he is the appropriate size/age but getting him neutered is a non-neogitable. Documentation of his neuter must be sent to the rescue by the time he is 12 months old.

*Please apply ONLY if you fit ALL requirements. Petfinder inquiries are not an adoption application and will not be responded to, so make sure you fill out our application. Email ambersangrelsrescue@yahoo.com if you are interested in adopting Max. In the email, please share a little about yourself & family, if you have a veterinary reference, and your experience with dogs*

Here’s what we are looking for in his forever home:

•Applicants must be over 25 years of age to adopt, and we do ??? ???? ?? ????????? our dogs.

• Homeowner (no renters) with a fence (preferred). Due to his potential size, apartment living probably wouldn't be best for Max.

• Would love a doggy sibling, he has done well with dogs of all sizes.

• Children 10+, please. He will eventually be a big goofy dog. He can easily knock down small children. In addition, his instincts from possible Aussie genes may cause him to herd and nip children. This is not an uncommon trait of Aussies. If potential adopters have children, they must work with a dog trainer.

• House training- he is 95% house trained but is a puppy and accidents do and can happen.

• He has a moderate energy level. He wants to run and play! An active family that will keep him stimulated is a must - as boredom causes a young dog to get into trouble.

• Max would benefit from a family who is willing to use a crate! As a puppy, the crate keeps him out of trouble, and helps with house training (which he still working on!) Crate utilization is important tool but may not be a lifelong tool!

• Max does OK on a leash! He is learning- he'd do well with a family who has doggy experience or a family who is comfortable with going through formal training with him. It is important understand Max is a growing, learning puppy. Patience is a must!
