Meet Max

One of our volunteers fell in love with Max and took him home but discovered he is not a good match for a home with cats or senior dogs (he plays too rough) so he is back up for adoption.

Max is a happy two-year-old, 35 lb. dog with big brown eyes who loves people. He was adopted as a puppy and had a middle-aged couple to hang out with, especially dad who doted on him with treats and lots of walks for two years. He is part Corgi and part Dachshund with a fun cinnamon color and white toes and a big sunny smile. He knows lots of dogs and was happy to be around them and has known children from age 8 to 12 and they were fun too.

Max is a people dog and has hardly even been alone in two years, he went everywhere the couple went. They feel his ideal home would be something similar. He loves treats, a very good walker, is pretty good in the car, and seems to like everyone he meets. Of course, his heart is broken right now but we know the right family can help him mend. He is ready for adoption at this time.

We give priority to people that fill out our adoption application, so if you are interested in meeting this dog, please go to https://www.medfieldshelter.com/adoption-forms/dog and fill out the application.

E-mail inquiries about a dog are not considered an application.

If a dog is listed on our website, that means that dog is still available for adoption. The Shelter is staffed primarily by volunteers so adoption meetings take place by appointment. Our dog adoption fee for dogs 5 years old or younger is $350. Every dog we place is given age-appropriate vaccines, wormed, treated for ticks/fleas, tested for heartworm and spayed/neutered prior to adoption. We send each dog home with a collar and leash and a month's worth of heartworm preventative. If a dog is listed on our website, they are still available for adoption. Please fill out the adoption application if you would like to be considered for a dog you see in our care.

With very few exceptions, dogs are happiest and the most well-behaved when they receive daily exercise and ongoing training, so we always prefer to place our dogs with families who are willing to make a commitment to both.
