Meet MAX
Max is an adorable highly intelligent 4-month-old Border Collie. He started out life with a wonderful family who were first time dog owners with a small child. Max loved his family and they loved him, so their decision to re-home was a difficult one but ultimately a safety issue (due to resource guarding) and best for Max.
Because Max has a tendency to herd animals and people, he is better suited for a family with older children and no cats or chickens. Max has a very high prey drive! His high prey drive makes him a perfect dog for anyone wanting to excel in herding, obedience or agility. Without proper training his prey drive can potentially be a safety issue as he has no impulse control over chasing cars and fast moving objects
He is smart! Max knows: Go To Your Mat and hold a Down/Stay, Come, Sit, Down, Stand, Touch/Hand Target, Walking Loose in Leash & Leave It. He knows the cue "Go Potty" when you take him outside to eliminate.
Max is nervous meeting new dogs. He has some food guarding issues (another reason for no small children) that need a savvy owner to continue working on.
Maxi is looking for someone experienced with herding breeds, have a plan for his energy level & Border Collie prey drive, and be committed to continuous consistent daily training.
