Max's Story
Neutered Male
Age: 13 Years
Weight: 20Lbs
Fee: $100

Max is a 13-year-old black and white Shih Tzu who’s ready to find a loving home to spend his golden years. He’s a really nice boy—spunky, curious, and with a surprising amount of energy for a senior. In fact, Max often acts like a much younger dog! He enjoys going outside to explore and doesn’t seem like much of a sit-still lap dog, preferring to stay on the move and check things out. He absolutely loves attention, especially butt scratches and pets, and thrives on interaction with people. Max does well with cats, other dogs, and children, making him a great companion for many types of families.

Max is housebroken, though he has been having more frequent accidents recently, and he is both leash and crate trained. He knows several commands, including sit, lay down, and “night night,” which sends him to his kennel.

Max will bark and may show his teeth when someone knocks at the door, but he has never acted on it. He can get a bit jumpy when excited, and when he feels scared, he tends to hide under furniture where he feels safe. Loud or high-pitched noises can make him nervous. He may have seasonal allergies and has had ear infections in the past, so he may need some ongoing care.

At the Humane Society of Midland County, all animals adopted will be spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations prior to an adoption. Dogs over 6 months of age will be heartworm tested, and any dog with a positive test will receive treatment at No Appointment Needed to Meet Adoptable Animals!
We have open adoption hours, and walk-ins are always welcome! While filling out an application lets us know you're interested in adopting, it does not hold an animal, and applications are not required to meet the available animals. We do highly recommend and may require you to bring any dogs that reside in the same household, or that will be around commonly if you are meeting a new dog companion.

Want to Know if I’m Still Available?
Call the shelter at (989)-835-1877 to confirm my availability. If you’d like to show you’re thinking about adopting, please fill out an application on our website under "Adopt" at www.hsomc.org.

Open Adoption Hours:

Tuesday & Wednesday: Noon – 6 pm

Thursday & Friday: Noon – 7 pm

Saturday: Noon – 4 pm

I’m located at the Humane Society of Midland County, 4371 E Ashman St, Midland, MI 48642.

We can’t wait to meet you and help you find your new best friend!

no additional cost.
