Hi my name is Matilda. I was found in as a stray in KY in pretty rough shape, so very skinny and loaded with fleas. I was spayed when I was found so mom thinks either I was used for hunting which is hard to imagine because I am such a gentle soul. Or maybe I belonged to someone who loved me at one time and I either got away from them or something happened to them and I was left to fend for myself. My paperwork says that I'm 10 years old and 18 pounds. Mom thinks I was aged wrong because I sure don't act ten. You should see me run and play with the other dogs here. I may be the caboose to the pack but that's because I have short legs. I greet the newbies when they arrive from the shelter like they are my long lost friend. My tail is always wagging!! Mom always knows where I am from the thumping of my tail on the couch or the bed. I am such a happy girl!! I LOVE to snuggle. I make my way to snuggle with mom when we are all just hanging out and moms watching TV. I love to be touched and petted. If mom stops petting me, I nudge her hand for her to keep petting me. Every night after mom goes to bed and gets settled I climb the dog stairs to her bed and we snuggle all night long. I have an old injury to my left eye but it doesn't bother me. The doctor thinks I can see some light and shadows. My right eye is fine and I have no problem seeing and my hearing is excellent too. When mom is moving towards me or bends down to pet me I get a little nervous and scurry to get out of her way. She isn't sure why I do that, maybe in my past someone kicked me. I am a happy, sweet, tail wagging (all the time) girl who wants to believe I will find someone to love me and take care of me the way every dog should be loved and cared for. Mom says she loves me a lot and I make her smile and laugh every day, but I deserve to have my own person. I'm not comfortable being picked up, probably because I never experienced it when I was younger but I will follow you all around. My wish for my forever home is one with a fenced in yard, it doesn't have to be big. I love to roll in the grass and absorb the warmth of the sun, a tie out is NOT acceptable for me. Another small dog, not overly bouncy but one who would like a companion. I really like the companionship of small dogs.
