Mater's Story
Meet Mater

Mater is 80 lbs of pure cuteness, and he truly believes he is a lap dog.

Mater came into a South Carolina shelter as a stray last December. During his time there, it was discovered that he had been shot, leaving a bullet lodged in his front right leg. The shelter tried everything they could to save his leg, but the damage was too severe and it sadly had to be amputated.

Today, Mater is healed and here at Dog Orphans, ready to find his forever home. Hes still adjusting to life on three legs, but hes already getting around wonderfully. He loves people, gets along great with other dogs, and has a sweet, easygoing personality that makes everyone fall in love with him.

Mater enjoys a quick romp around the yard, but after about five minutes hes ready to settle in for a nap. He loves swimming and happily paddles around in a life vest. And if theres whipped cream involved, youve officially become his favorite person. In fact, Mater would probably tell you he could survive on whipped cream alone.

And yes, despite weighing 80 pounds, Mater is absolutely convinced he belongs in your lap.

This gentle giant has been through more than any dog should, yet he greets every day with a wagging tail and a loving heart. Now all he needs is a family of his own.

Interested in Mater?! Stop in or give us a call! 508-476-1855
