Marvin's Story
Marvin's been here about 80 days, and in that entire time, he has not barked once. This is notable, because Marvin has absolutely been barked at. Other dogs have offered strong opinions. Some have delivered what can only be described as full TED Talks on Why Marvin Should React Immediately. Marvin considers this information, then quietly walks away. He has no interest in confrontation. If drama were a sport, Marvin would be in the parking lot, politely tracking a butterfly.
Marvin communicates almost exclusively through tail wags, and not just casual tail wags. We're talking full helicopter mode when he sees a friend -- which is convenient, because in Marvin's world, everyone's a friend. Tail wag for food. Tail wag for a new toy. Tail wag for a warm beam of sunlight that's done nothing but exist in a very appealing way.
At 8 years old, Marvin has figured out something most of us are still workshopping: life is better when you opt out of nonsense and lean all the way into joy.
He's silly. He's goofy. He's playful in that gentle, endearing way that makes you want to sit on the floor and just exist with him for a while. He's sweet, snuggly, and quietly, unmistakably grateful -- the kind of dog who seems to understand that good things are happening, and he plans to appreciate every single one of them.
If you're looking for a dog who will bring calm, warmth, and a surprising amount of tail-based enthusiasm into your life, Marvin is ready.
Animal Aid Society, 80 Butler Farm Road, Hampton, VA. Visiting hours are daily, including weekends & holidays, from 9am to noon.
Interested? Come for a visit any day of the week - 365 days a year between 9am - 12pm.
