Marvin Pit Bull Terrier Mix Phoenixville, PA

Marvin arrived at our shelter reserved and afraid of his own shadow. We slowly worked on confidence building exercises like searching with the “find it” game. This is Marvin’s favorite games so we began playing this game in a yard where he was most comfortable. We gradually played this “find it” game as we navigated new trails every week. This allowed Marvin to focus on a fun game while trying a new trail! He has blossomed into a fun, playful and affectionate dog.
He is also the best dog for pack walks or to encourage a shy dog to keep walking. We call him the dog whisperer?? He LOVES other dogs (he walks every day at the rescue with at least one other dog and play bows to everyone!) and he seems to draw confidence from them (he won't walk as far or as readily if he is alone but will go pretty much anywhere following another dog).

He is still underconfident, which means he gets nervous in new situations or meeting new people for the first time, but he is making progress there as well

We think an experienced home, with a playful, confident dog would be ideal, and a calmer household (no small kids or tons of visitors daily). He just needs some time to decompress and learn the ropes without a lot of other distractions at first.
He walks great on a leash, appears housetrained and has met new volunteers readily and happily. He is ready for his forever home.
