Marty's Story
Meet Marty--a 40-pound Carolina Dog mix with a dash of Pit Bull and a big, lovable personality. He's full of energy, always ready to play with other dogs, chew on toys, or flop onto the couch in a silly position. He's known for sitting on people just to be close and will bark at visitors or new sounds but quickly turns into a sweet, affectionate cuddlebug once he warms up. The best way to meet him is to say hello, then let him come to you.

Marty is housetrained, walks nicely on a leash, and knows basic commands like "sit," "paw," and "take nice." He's great with other dogs and does well with kids, though his excitement and puppy-like behavior mean older children or dog-savvy kids would be best. He hasn't been tested with cats, so slow introductions would be needed.

He loves car rides, treats, and spending time with his people. Marty thrives in an active home with regular exercise, like walks or playtime in a fenced yard. He doesn't like to be crated for long and would do best with someone home most of the day or another dog to keep him company.

Marty was rescued from a shelter on the day he was scheduled to be euthanized. Since then, he's experienced lots of "firsts"--his first snowfall, first Christmas, and even his first blueberry (which he suspiciously pushed around before finally eating). His one-up, one-down ears and freckled nose make him even more endearing.

Marty is a fun, smart, affectionate dog who's still growing up and learning. He just needs a family ready to keep up with his energy and give him the love and structure he deserves. He's ready to make someone very happy.
Please note: We only accept adoption applications through our website or in person (Facebook and Petfinder inquiries are not considered applications).
