Martha American Foxhound Mix Danbury, CT

We’d love for you to meet the lady Martha! Martha is a 45 lb, 2-year-old American Foxhound – who is a wonderful advocate for her general breed demeanor. Generally, Foxhounds are Sweet-Tempered, Intelligent, Kind, Loyal, Independent, and Loving – and Martha works daily to showcase each one of these attributes. Martha is thriving in her foster home, adjusting very well to two cats and children (7 and 10 yrs). Martha is gentle and affectionate and is beginning to show her playful side with a few toys. She loves a long walk and gets excited outdoors with a good squirrel sighting. Her hound nose often leads her to pull on leash a little in search of a good mystery in the leaves/grass/trees/road– but in spite of that, she is a good leash walker and redirects well. And although she can easily sleep like a cat some days and doesn’t seem to need to “let any energy out”, she also enjoys trail running with her foster parents.
Martha is crate trained and appears to be pee pad trained – and her foster parents are working on helping her feel more confident in using the great outdoors instead. Martha is VERY social – she greets everyone on her walk with an instant tail wag and a lean. She is happy being a solo dog in foster but she really lights up around other dogs – so we also think she would enjoy being a second pup too (or having access to other canine friends). She has only used her hound bark sparingly – and it’s always been in play or to get the attention of a canine friend she’s met before. Martha has not shown any resource guarding or destructive behaviors. Her favorite things include a good curl up with her people, a walk without rain, a beach grass massage, and bacon-flavored ANYTHING. Martha is an incredible pup and is ready for her forever family.
