Marshmellow's Story

Marshmallow ☁️
Small dog. Big opinions.
2 years old • 14 lbs • Bay Area

Listen. We need to talk about Marshmallow.
He's two years old, 14 pounds, and a small Maltipoo-type mix who carries himself like a much bigger dog. He has opinions about things. He will share them.
Look at his before and after groom photos. Same dog. He went from tiny wizard to very handsome little gentleman, and honestly both versions work for him.
His coat is soft and a little wavy — not wiry like a lot of terriers. People want to touch him.
He is, somehow, an off-leash dog. At two years old. We're as surprised as you are. On-leash he's solid too — no hard pulling, no zig-zagging. He'll get a little excited when he sees another dog sometimes, but not always, and never out of control. He's two, you know?
He gets along great with other dogs. Big ones, small ones, doesn't matter. If you've got a dog at home, he'll fit in. Take him to the dog park, he'll have a good time. He's not gonna lose his mind over every dog he meets, but he's a solid hang.
He LOVES car rides. Like, deeply. Window cracked, ears back, this is his thing. If you're the kind of person who drives up to Tahoe or Point Reyes on weekends, he's coming with you.
He's crate trained with zero separation anxiety, which is honestly huge. You can go to work, you can have a life, Marshmallow will be fine.
The cuddles are earned. He takes a minute to warm up to new people — he's a little reserved at first. But once he picks you? You're his. He'll be in your lap, he loves tug, and he REALLY loves a back scratch.
Real talk: Marshmallow has a strong personality and he'll test you. He's not a soft dog and he doesn't want a pushover human. He needs someone calm and confident who can say "absolutely not" and mean it. Because of that, he needs an adult home — no young kids.
But for the right person, he's a great dog. Small enough for an apartment, smart, snuggly once he knows you, and down for whatever you've got going on.
If that sounds like your person — apply to adopt Marshmallow. He's waiting (impatiently). 🤍

https://www.welcomehomesanctuary.org/adoption-application
