Marley came to us from the NYC shelter system after being surrendered by his owner. Marley is now in a loving foster home in NJ. We were told that Marley is 7 years old, but the vets we've seen here in NJ believe that he's older than that. We've been told that 8-10 years old is their best guess. (His eyes are still clear, so he's not an elderly man.)

Marley is good with other dogs, and reportedly lived with cats in his previous home. He enjoys going for walks and car rides. He hasn't shown much interest in playing with other dogs or toys. He's been friendly to people and children, and is great at the vet. He's a very sociable boy.

Marley has been pretty laid-back in his foster home. He much prefers to be around his humans, and seems to be a bit of a couch potato. However, he's always up to go outside to patrol the yard or go for a walk.

We were told that Marley has epilepsy, and he has had several moderate seizures and one major cluster seizure that landed him in the hospital for a few days. He is now on 3 different anti-convulsant medications and prednisone, and we haven't seen any seizures since. We will take our time weaning him from the different seizure meds to make sure that his epilepsy continues to be under control. (

The only contraindication to be aware of is to stay away from oral flea/tick medications while on anti-convulsants since those meds can reduce the seizure threshold.)

We've been working on Marley's housetraining skills. He had to learn to potty outside. He's starting to do much better, but Marley needs to wear a belly band (diaper) in his foster home.

Marley may not be apartment appropriate since he will bark when left alone and also is struggling to overcome his distaste for pottying on a leash!

Marley has been neutered and had a dental cleaning (including 10 extractions). He's still got plenty of teeth left to eat hard food. Marley is up to date on vaccines, is microchipped, and he tested negative for heartworm.

Marley's adoption fee is $250.
