Mara's Story

Mara is a very special dog, she is a 3 year old Lab/Plott hound mix we think.

She had 11 puppies in the beginning of May. She was such a good mama but wound up getting eclampsia and Lyme disease and had to stop nursing. The poor baby was so sick we weren't sure if she was going to make it. Luckily she did and we were able to find specialty rescues to care for all of her puppies.

Mara came from a home where the owner just kept letting her get pregnant. We have another dog Mochila listed that is a pup from a different litter of hers. She is now spayed and won't have to worry about having anymore puppies.

Mara is an excellent family dog, she loves riding in the car, is extremely smart and is living on a farm right now. She is getting used to the chickens, dogs and cats at the farm but her foster parents are still working with her on food guarding. She would love to have a family that is active and will take her on hikes, swims in the river and long car rides.

If you would like to meet Mara please fill out an application from our website.
