Mara's Story

Mara was found in a rural area near a waterfall. She had been abandoned along with her young pup. Her pup has been adopted and it's bittersweet. That is why we changed her name to Mara. Mara is friendly and very active. She is not cat friendly but she gets along great with her fosters dogs and all people.<br/><br/>The foster home finds her very friendly, sweet and mellow, doing just great integrating into their household with 2 dogs. Blackjack Animal Rescue's Adoption Policy

Please go to www.blackjackrescue.org and fill out an application under adopt menu. We have dogs placed in foster homes in many states including Indiana, Tennessee, North Carolina, Virginia, and Connecticut. Our adoption fee helps to cover the costs associated with rescuing and vetting. Once your application is received, we will check references and call you to schedule a meet & greet or home visit. Depending on your location, the home visit may need to be completed by a rescue organization that is local to you. Once approved to adopt, pickup or third-party transport will be arranged for your new family member. It is our preference that you are able to personally meet the dog prior to adopting. We do not have a physical structure, but we have dedicated foster homes in many states. Please have your application completed in order to schedule the home visit or meet and greet.
