You know the constant need to be close, to lean against you, to curl up in your lap, to love with every ounce of their being.<br/><br/>And if you've never experienced that kind of love, then Malaya would be honored to show you.<br/><br/>At approximately 5 years old, Malaya has already survived more than most dogs ever should. She spent part of her life living on the streets of Atlanta alongside a homeless person. When she came to us, she was painfully emaciated, her little body telling the story of hardship and survival.<br/><br/>But somehow, through it all, she never lost that sparkle.<br/><br/>That twinkle in her eyes is still there. <br/><br/>Malaya believes she is the center of someone's universe. She just hasn't found that someone yet.<br/><br/>Today, instead of a couch, she's sitting in a kennel.<br/><br/>Instead of a lap, she's lying on concrete.<br/><br/>Instead of hearing "good girl," she listens to barking dogs and watches people walk past her.<br/><br/>And it's breaking her heart.<br/><br/>Malaya is fully vetted, housebroken, and desperately craving human companionship. She would thrive as an only dog, though she can make canine friends with slow, proper introductions. Cats are unknown.<br/><br/>What we do know is this:<br/><br/>She needs a person.<br/><br/>A lap.<br/><br/>A couch.<br/><br/>A home.<br/><br/>A reason to smile again.<br/><br/>We're watching this sweet girl become more and more depressed with every day she spends in a kennel.
