Malasadas's Story
Meet Malasadas!

Malasadas is a very, very special case that is going to need a very, very specific type of home.

He is an 11mo Portuguese Podengo and, if we had to guess, he came from a hunting bloodline. However, he CANNOT be an outside pet. He has never been an outside pet, has always lived indoors, and would not adjust well to being an outside pet. He would do best somewhere rural, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, with a big fenced in yard or acreage that he can call his own. He is very territorial and very protective of his home and has a high prey drive for wildlife (especially squirrels) which would probably also brim over into cats as well.

With people? He's a lovebug. He's social, actively seeks out affection and attention, and looks to his handlers for direction. He's a great listener and he's been doing very, very well with his leash training. He's goofy and silly and snuggly, loves walks, and loves being with people.

The thing is...he's okay with dogs here. He really wants to interact with them to the point that it can come off as intense and obnoxious but he isn't aggressive. He's a bouncy, barky puppy. The reactivity doesn't come into play until he feels like he has "territory" to protect. He might be fine in doggy day care. He might be fine with the occasional playdate. However, when he is on his land and feels like he has something to protect? That's when the reactivity will come into play.

Malasadas needs someone with experience, with time, and with patience. He needs to be the only animal in the home. Older kids (12+) would be fine because, again, he LOVES people. He's loyal and intelligent and will snuggle up to you like a 35lb weighted blanket. He just needs a very specific set of circumstances to set him up for success.

To apply, visit foreverpaws.com and click adopt to download our application.
