Major (Chip) - Loves People & Dogs! Adopt $50!'s Story

Meet Chip, our big, goofy boy with an even bigger heart!

Chip is a 2 year old Great Dane/Shepherd mix who's been waiting patiently for just the right person to come along. He's smart, confident, loving, and has a personality that fills the room, the kind of dog who makes you laugh with his silly antics and melts your heart when he leans in for cuddles.

Chip is crate-trained, non-destructive, and totally fine being left alone. He entertains himself with toys or naps when you're gone. He loves to play and go on adventures, and when it's time to relax, he's a total snuggle bug.

Because he's a big, strong boy with lots of confidence, Chip needs an experienced adult adopter who understands large breeds and can be a steady leader for him. He's incredibly smart and already knows "sit," "down," "paw," "other paw," "look," and "place." He's been working on leash manners and doing well with continued structure and consistency.

Chip enjoys the company of some dogs, but he can be a bit of a "bully" during play and does best with calm, confident dogs who won't be reactive. In fact, he'd absolutely love being the only pet in the home so he can soak up all your love and attention. He's waited long enough to be someone's one and only!

He's not a match for cats or small animals, and he's looking for a kid-free home where his size and play style won't accidentally knock anyone down.

Chip's the kind of dog who will give you his whole heart once he trusts you. He's goofy, loyal, and eager to please. He shines brightest when he gets one-on-one time with his person, and he's ready to build that bond for life.

Chip is one of our long-timers at High Country Humane, and his adoption fee is only $50! If you've been looking for a big-hearted companion who's as strong as he is sweet, come meet Chip and see if you're his perfect match.

Contact his Foster at (928) 514-6951 to meet him!

This is also a great time to ask our team any lingering questions you might have, and we’re here to provide you with resources so you and your new pet can start things off on the right paw! AFTER ADOPTION You have a new pet, how exciting! Please remember that each animal will have an adjustment period in their new home after adoption. Every pet is unique & will adjust differently, but as a general guideline you can follow the 3-3-3 rule! 3 days to decompress, 3 weeks to learn your routine, and 3 months to start to feel at home. It doesn’t happen overnight, so give your new pet the patience they need to settle in & feel at home!
