Meet Major

Hi, my name is "Major"! I am a very handsome, super friendly, confident young boy who is looking for my forever home. If you are looking for an energetic, smart and cuddly best friend. Then I am the guy for you!

Things about me you might like to know about me:

Things I like to do in my spare time: When I am awake I usually stay busy by following my foster mom around the house to make sure I do not miss out on anything. I love toys although I need to have some durable ones. The “Benebones” are one of my favorites. I love to chase around tennis balls, although I do not retrieve and bring it back. I enjoy cuddling on the couch while the family is enjoying down time.

Things I know: I am house and kennel trained. When my foster family is away from the house I have been staying in my kennel. I might be just fine hanging outside of a kennel while I am alone, I just have not had the opportunity. At night I am happy to curl up on the couch in a little ball and sleep through the night outside of the kennel. I have not been destructive to any household items.  I know how to sit and wait for my food. I have been eating my meals in my kennel and will “sit and wait” for my food like a good boy. I do love food and might beg by whimpering a little when you are eating in front of me. My foster mom is very impressed with my recall skills. So far I have not shown fear of anything.

Things I am working on: I do have some puppy-like impulse control and do not realize my size so can be a bit klutzy. I am working on boundaries and listening. I can get carried away when I want to play with my foster brother and don’t always catch on to his signals because I am so anxious to play. I have come a long way since I have been in my foster home.

What to expect if you adopt me: Basic obedience training, leash training( I do like to pull and am pretty strong), boundary training, and impulse control. My foster family has been working on telling me “wait” if I am near the gate or door when they are going in or out, I still need work on this. I Will need to have a strong and consistent leader with some patience at times. I need work on greeting humans that come into the house. I currently get pretty excited and have a hard time controlling myself. I think everyone should just love me!!

Dogs: I currently live with 3 dogs of various ages. It has taken a bit of time for them to tolerate having me around due to the fact that I was a little slow at catching onto their signals. I am interested in checking out other dogs when I am walking. My foster mom has been working on having me sit and wait while they pass by. I do not get aggressive or bark. I think I would be great in a home with or without another pup.

Cats: Unknown

Kids: I currently live with a 15 and 13 year old. I will do best in a home with older children. I don’t always realize my size.

Car rides: I am happy to be your co-pilot in the car. I do not get car sick or have any anxiety about cars. I have been going on frequent short trips to pick up my human foster brother and sister from school.

My Story: Sadly, I had an owner who left me behind in an apartment. I was alone a significant amount of time before I was discovered  in a bathroom with no food or water. I was skin and bones and had badly burned feet from standing in urine when they rescued me.

A fenced yard would be best for me!

I am so excited to have a family that would love to make me the center of their world!!!
