Magnum 3593's Story
07/06/26. Meet magnificent Magnum. This absolutely adorable 6-year-old boy is a big, gentle giant who loves everyone he meets—and he’s already captured the hearts of those of us lucky enough to know him.

His owner made the difficult decision to surrender him to us after he started getting rambunctious and jumping the 4-foot fence to get to her chickens. Magnum has spent most of his life outdoors, so he’ll need to learn the ropes of being a house dog. But he’s extremely smart and keeps a clean kennel, so we have no doubt he’ll adjust quickly.

Magnum truly loves people. When strangers came into his yard, he would go to his kennel when asked. Once, he even carried a visitor's heavy toolbox across the yard—and happily gave it up when told.

This charming boy has a lot of personality. He walks nicely on a leash, but he’s a big guy and can be strong. Any fenced yard should be 6–8 feet tall for him.

He hasn’t been around children or cats and doesn’t do well with small animals. He previously lived with two female Dobermans, so he’d likely do well with another female dog, or as the only “king canine” of the house soaking up all the attention.

If you’re looking for a new summer love, get your applications in for Magnum. Not every dog is available for adoption or need a foster - some are wards of the rescue (usually due to medical reasons, but sometimes behavioral). These dogs will always be supported by DRL. We welcome financial support for these dogs.
