Magnolia's Story
As certain breeds grow in popularity it is not uncommon to see the influx of backyard breeders trying to make a buck off a pup. Greed is far from their only offense. These pups end up in the hands of humans that are not knowledgeable about the breed or the financial burden they may be in for, which is a huge factor when they are breeding a genetic disaster. Breeding for certain colors, certain eyes, size, stance, etc. have left many of these pups with medical issues throughout their life.

Frenchies are commonly bred by irresponsible breeders making them a walking vet bill most of their lives. Magnolia is one of those pups. She was brought into the shelter after being attacked. We cannot definitively say when she was attacked, but it could not be to recent as thousands of maggots feeding on the open wounds. Once the major medical issues were on the mend we proceeded to address some other concerns that popped up. Magnolia has a grade 2 heart murmur at 4 years old. One side of her heart is enlarged. As of now it is not a problem, but there is a high probability that she will have to be on heart medication in the future. Magnolia also has fused vertebrae in her neck and spine. This is a more noticeable genetic defect. She is unable to fully lift her tail. Extra precautions need to be taken as she will be prone to disc issues in her spine. We would recommend no heavy jumping, rough play, twisting motions, and using a harness for walks to help prevent injury.

Magnolia is the sweetest girl. She is gentle, and although she still has the Frenchie personality she tends to be more on the reserved side. This pup loves her doggy friends, and human cuddles. She is not overly active but still likes to chase her canine friends around the yard. Magnolia seems to have basic knowledge of house skills and manners. She is looking for a family that not only understands her breed but the fact that she may have ongoing medical needs in the future.
