Vet checked: Yes  Microchipped: Yes  Spayed/Neutered: Yes<br/><br/>Magic is a special boy who need care, patience and most of all love.<br/><br/>His story begins on the streets of Mexico where he was found with a chain tied around his neck and wearing a cone of shame (we assume someone was caring for him but let him go). He was walking very near to our sister rescue SOS el Arca where the staff brought him in to check him out. He had a very bad ear infection which had to be cut and drained (he does half an ear) and he tested positive for the tick born diseases Ehrlichia and Anaplasma. He was treated with antibiotics and is now clear. <br/><br/>They noticed after a few days he was not eating dry kibble. So they prepared him cooked chicken and rice which he ate very slowly with some difficulty as he kept coming back to it every so often. it was decided to x ray his jaw to make sure there was no damage and they came back with no breaks or fractures. The vet has however believes Magic has MMM (Masticatory Muscle Mytosis) which is an immune system disorder. This means that Magic’s muscle tissue is identifying it as foreign and attacks it. The masticatory muscles are the muscles involved with chewing. MMM causes the muscles to become painful and swollen. This can be helped with proper vetting, food and medication. <br/><br/>Magic requires a dedicated adopter who is willing to to assist him with his disease by home cooking for him and giving him the proper medication daily. He needs love and kindness because he hasn’t received much in his short life. He is a very good boy who is good with dogs, cats and children however, because it does take him so long to eat we would prefer no other animals in the home. His breed (we believe he has Afghan him him) does give him a slender build as seen in the picture but we know with good nutrition and patience his weight can be maintained and even increase.<br/><br/>Magic is crate trained, house trained as he is clean in the shelter and his leash skills are a work in a progress. He would do very well in a home with fenced in yard but would be fine in an apartment or condo as well. He is a puppy and still loves to play and have fun and his slight handicap does not hinder this at all.<br/><br/>If you feel you would be the right fit for him, please fill out an adoption application at www.allpawsmatter.ca\<br/><br/>All APM dogs are UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, spayed or neutered, dewormed, Heartworm (4dx snap) tested and arrive with a health certificate. They come to adopter with a harness, a collar and two leashes for safety.<br/><br/>BREED DISCLAIMER: We are never sure of the breed of our dogs since they arrive off the streets or shelters.
