Maggie's Story

Sometimes the dogs who need us most are the ones who are having the hardest time being here.

Meet Maggie, a beautiful 6-year-old Redbone Coonhound mix who is currently finding shelter life very overwhelming. With more than 50 dogs currently in our shelter, it can be loud, busy, and stressful—and Maggie is a girl who would really love a little peace and quiet.

Once you spend a little time with her, you’ll see the sweet dog we see. Maggie is friendly, affectionate, and loves attention. She has a gentle, lovable personality and seems happiest when she can simply be with her people. She’s the kind of girl we can picture relaxing beside you, enjoying a leisurely walk, and then settling in for some well-earned couch time.

Maggie has met a few dogs here and will need some time and patience with dog-to-dog introductions. We think that once she has a chance to decompress in a calmer environment, she may surprise us with just how much she can blossom. We don't know how she does with cats.

Most importantly, Maggie needs someone who understands that the shelter is not showing her at her best right now. She is stressed, overwhelmed, and desperately needs the opportunity to exhale and feel safe again.

If you have room in your heart for a sweet, mature hound who would love to leave the chaos behind and become your loyal companion, please come meet Maggie.

Maggie
• 6 years old
• Redbone Coonhound mix
• Spayed
• Friendly & affectionate
• $45 adoption fee
• Needs patient dog introductions
• Cat history unknown

Stafford County Animal Shelter
26 Frosty Lane
Stafford, VA 22554

We are first-come, first-served.
