Maggie's Story

Maggie is 2 1/2 years old female golden retriever who is quite energetic and playful. She loves to initiate play with Hank (also available for adoption with Maggie) tug-of-war with ropes and similar toys. She has a very sweet temperament and just wants to be near her people - she loves to snuggle on the couch.

Maggie displays no aggression or resource guarding and seems to love everyone she meets - human or dog. Maggie doesn't chew or bite on anything other than toys/bones and doesn't bark much.

Maggie is housebroken and partially crate trained. She is excellent in the car and sleeps through the night on her bed in the bedroom. Maggie knows how to sit, lay down, stay (kind of), give a paw, and will come most times when called. She'll respond to commands every time for a treat, but may be stubborn about responding without one.

Maggie needs more leash training - she walks fairly well on a Gentle Leader, but pulls constantly with a regular collar or harness. Because she is so treat motivated, it should be easy to continue her training. She has a high prey drive and obsesses over chipmunks, squirrels, and cats. She should not be in a home with cats.

If you are interested in adopting Maggie and Hank, or another golden retriever, please read "How to Adopt" at www.gr-rescue.org.
