Maggie

This is Maggie, but Magnus to her friends.

Maggie is a 17 pound Shih Tzu, built like a tiny potato with enough sass to earn the nickname Spicy Queen. She is funny, smart, playful, affectionate, and spicy in the cutest way.

She loves barking at the wind, grass, people, and anything else that catches her attention, sometimes so passionately her whole little body bops up and down. She is a serious belly rub enthusiast and rolls onto her back when she senses you coming.

Maggie is blind, but her halo is her superhero cape. Once it goes on, her confidence kicks in and she happily roams the house. She knows sit and paw, is completely potty trained, sleeps peacefully in her crate all night, and prefers to free roam a bedroom when home alone.

She does well with older children who know how to gently approach a blind dog. She is comfortable with other dogs but rarely wants to play, making her a “you do your thing, I’ll do mine” roommate.

Her thick coat turns her into a baby sheep, so she needs regular brushing and a few professional grooms each year.

Maggie’s glaucoma is under control. She takes four eye medications three times a day and is excellent about them. Her ophthalmologist expects her medications and dosing frequency may decrease over time. Lifelong ophthalmology care is non negotiable, likely about four visits a year, currently around $1,100 annually plus medications.

If you are looking for a sassy little sidekick, Magnus is your girl.
