Magellan's Story

Magellan is a male Great Dane looking for his forever family. He entered our program after a tragic situation that left him without his family and him at large in the community for nearly 2 months. After trapped by a local animal welfare advocate, Magellan was transferred to MAS Bully Rescue for vetting, care, and careful screening for adoptive placement.

Magellan is currently in a foster home with no other animals and is doing well. As he heals from injuries and we get to know him better, we will begin temperament testing him with other animals; but at this time, we don't have any indication of his sociability with others.

Magellan is located in Texas, but can be adopted nationwide to the right home. Make A Stand Bully Rescue's Adoption Policy
All applicants must first complete a rigorous 6 page adoption application which is sent to our team to review. Questions are specific to dog ownership and bully ownership, in addition to questions regarding the environment the dog may be living in, if approved. Once we receive the application, we review the answers and request additional information from the applicant, to include home check pictures (both internal and external); veterinary reference (if applicable); and for some applicants, personal reference checks. Then our team members complete phone interviews with top candidates to have a conversation with the applicant and truly determine if the dog they're interested in is actually the right fit for the home environment. It would be at this point that we suggest other matches, if necessary. Once a home has been approved by our team members, we schedule a meet and greet followed by the adoption day. For some dogs, we offer foster-to-adopt trial periods so we can ensure both the dog and the home are matched well. Post adoption, we provide lifelong resources and community network to ALL adopters.
