Meet Mae! <br/><br/>Mae is a 1-year-old, 63 lb girl who came to the shelter as a stray and was incredibly overwhelmed when she first arrived. Over time, she has built trust with the people around her and shows more of her personality every day.<br/><br/>Outside of her kennel, Mae is a busy girl who loves to explore. She can pull when she's excited, but once she settles in, she becomes a much easier walking companion. She already knows sit, takes treats gently, and is very motivated to learn.<br/><br/>Mae may not be the type of dog who runs up to everyone immediately, but once she feels comfortable, she'll come over for affection and show you her sweet side. She recently spent the day away from the shelter and continued opening up as the day went on, enjoying toys, exploring, and spending time with her person.<br/><br/>Mae has shown positive interest in other dogs at the shelter and has a playful, excited approach with them. She also did great meeting a young child in the adoption room and was a polite greeter.<br/><br/>Mae is looking for a patient family who understands that confidence takes time. In return, they'll get a fun, affectionate dog who is ready to keep learning and finally have a place to call home.<br/><br/>As always, we strongly recommend that resident dogs meet any new potential canine family members. If bringing a resident dog for a dog to dog test, please bring proof of Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella vaccines.<br/><br/>To meet/adopt, visit us in Greensboro, NC from 12-4pm any day except Tuesdays; no appointment needed.
