Meet Maddie
Maddie has been the beloved furry friend of her mom since she was a youngster. Sadly, mom's health is no longer up to walking her. Mom decided Maddie deserves more exercise and adventures, which she loves.
With a guesstimated birthday in Jan. 2014, Maddie is a healthy adult. She's a little overweight at 26 lb. Her foster mom and dad are helping her slim down with a diet and exercise.
Maddie is house-trained when kept on a regular schedule. She enjoys going out on adventures and likes to ride on laps in cars. She is leash-savvy, but will pull to investigate exciting things. She is comfy in a 36" crate and sleeps quietly all night. Her mom said she's a good sleeper in the bed, but occasionally would hope down to use the bathroom. Her crate pad is always dry in the morning, but she's taken out for a potty break before bedtime and taken out first thing when her foster mom gets up.
Maddie wants to be where her foster peeps are and whimpers quietly at gates that keep her from them. She is fine with the other dogs in her foster home, which range from 8 lb to 70 lb. She ignores the cats as they run on the counters in the kitchen. She loves to eat, but is slightly disdainful of dog kibble. Her mom feed her only canned food, but brushed her teeth with toothpaste after every meal.
If you'd like an affectionate snuggler, ask for Maddie!
**********
Whether dogs / puppies come in as strays or owner surrenders, we usually have to make our best guess as to birthdate and breed.
If adopted into a home with other animals, particularly cats, your new pet should be crated or secured when you're not available to supervise to insure a harmonious relationship.
A vet reference is required to confirm responsible pet ownership. Requirement is a minimum three year vet history documenting current / previous pets are spayed / neutered, kept up to date on core vaccinations, and on heartworm prevention. We suggest first time pet owners without a vet history look for an adult dog for companionship and to gain experience. Other rescues or your local government-run animal control agency may have different adoption requirements.
Adoption fee covers two vaccinations. Additional fees for 3rd puppy vaccination, refundable spay/neuter deposit, etc. may apply.
We are an all-volunteer, foster-based rescue. We receive no funding from agencies.
Not all foster dogs are available for viewing during public events, held most Saturdays at Tractor Supply (360 Blowing Rock Blvd) in Lenoir, NC from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. We recommend interested parties contact us to pre-qualify for adoption so their new furry family can go home once paperwork is complete. Fees are required in cash. For more information on our organization, our website is www.petpartnersrescue.org.
