Reason for being in rescue: born into CPR rescue
Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC
Special Needs? Macon is up to date on vaccines for her age. Due to age, her is not spayed. She will be adopted on a spay/neuter contract which requires you to spay her at your expense within 12 months. Macon is a very young puppy that is not house trained or crate trained. She will need patience and proper training to accomplish both. Macon's mom Daisey is a standard poodle. Dad is a man of mystery. She is a doodle mix. She is not hypoallergenic and will shed.
Weight: 21 lbs and growing - We expect Macon will be 55-65 pounds when full grown
Height: 9 in and growing - We expect Macon will be 22-24 in at the shoulder when full grown
Spayed/Neutered: No

Adoption Fee: $399

Fence needed? Yes, Macon requires a physically fenced yard with fencing 4 feet or taller

What kind of home would be best for me? Macon requires a home with another active dog for socialization and play. A person scheduled away from home for no more than 4 hours per day and can provide multiple potty breaks throughout the day and night is a must. She is a baby and needs play breaks as well as frequent and consistent potty times to aid in potty training. Macon has never lived with cats.

Doodle puppies are always in need of a canine friend, they love to run and play with one another. Doodle puppies are active, agile little babies, they need homes that are ready to tire them out both mentally and physically, so a fenced in yard will be required. Doodle puppies are very well rounded dogs, they do not meet strangers and would do well with a nice big family or a single owner! What matters most to a doodle puppy is a happy and excited owner ready to take on loving and training their new puppy! When raised around cats, with proper boundaries, puppies do very well, it is important to note that poodles can have a high prey drive. If you expect your puppy to get alone with your feline buddy, it's important to start socializing the puppy with the cat as soon as you can! This pup has not had contact with cats that we know of and will not have contact while with their current foster.

What is my personality like? Macon loves to sit outside and watch the world and all of the wonderful things that happen in it. She's the beauty of the family with stunning colors all through her coat but her personality is the real winner here. She is shyly sweet and easy to love.

Of the puppies, Macon is the least bonded to her siblings. She is not a leader but she is not a follower - she is off watching it all happen. She'll get into the middle of a puppy mosh wrestling pit sure enough but as often as not, she is too busy watching the birds to participate in the other games. Right now, she is less of a people person with us when she is with her siblings but one on one, she thinks people are just dandy and fine. I do not think she will be a cuddler. She seems more content to be near you, not glued on top of you. Macon is a good, middle of the road energy type of dog, neither too bouncy or too still. She does not need extensive exercise but a good walk once a day will do it. She would not be happy with out a canine buddy in the home. Any size/any age. Just someone to hang with.

Macon's mom Daisey is wonderfully gentle and sweet. We believe her puppies will be the same.

Macon LOVES to eat and is very treat motivated. Right now, milk bones are her very favorite. She will be easy to teach because she is so ready to do whatever it takes to get that yummy bone.

PUPPY POLICY:

Thank you for carefully considering the addition of a puppy to your family. Puppies can be a joyous experience, but they can also be a tremendous amount of work. Since our goal is to place each of our dogs in forever homes, we are especially cautious with puppies. We like to stress 3 major things when considering a puppy vs. an adult dog: 1) many adult dogs are well bred, well trained dogs who find themselves in rescue through no fault of their own, 2) adult dogs are eager to share their love and bond with their new family, and 3) puppies will always require far more time, energy, and training than an adult dog.
Our ideal puppy adopters are:
-experienced dog owners with a solid record of excellent vet care of their previous pets
-scheduled away from home for no more than 4 hours per day and have another canine companion already in the home
-stay at home type of people (work at home, home schoolers, retired, etc)

How do I act when I first meet new people? Friendly

Other tips and tidbits: Macon was born into rescue on 12/20/2023.

House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
